replace exercise 1 website with a different one

@jennyknuth notes that Exercise 1 asks people to go to a conference website that no longer is active. We should replace this with a website that will likely stay the same for longer.

What do you think about using the STRUDEL site? The scenario could be finding a way to get involved (instead of going to a conference).

It would be a way of advertising the STRUDEL project and could lead people to office hours and US-RSE. Very related to usability in scientific software.

Too "advertisy"?

I think that's a great idea. It prevents us from "picking on" other websites too. Are you comfortable rewriting the script yourself?
