Default isn't honored when vertico is activate in completing-read-multiple

I noticed that the default isn't honored or even added to the selection in completing-read-multiple.

I'm not sure if the error is in my configuration or in vertico. Here it is:

I could observe this behavior when using magit-log while pointing at a revision
in magit-status.

Can you please provide a more precise recipe which demonstrates the issue, the exact steps? When I type l at some point in the magit status buffer I get another transient. Where is the completion interface appearing?

Maybe you meant M-x magit-log-other or pressing l o? In this case the revision at point appears in the completion list as a candidate, as expected?

If I run trace-function completing-read-multiple and then do l o in the status buffer I see this:

(completing-read-multiple "Log rev,s: " #f(compiled-function (string pred action) ...) nil nil nil magit-revision-history "d79b249" nil)

The revision at point "d79b249" is passed as default value to completing-read-multiple. It is the topmost candidate in the Vertico completion list and it is preselected. When I press RET, this default string is returned. Equivalently, when I move to the prompt and press RET, the default string is returned too.

Works fine after updating vertico and magit. I also rebuilt all the packages I use right after, not sure which one of them it was.
