writing a pom.xml

versioning conventions

mvn clean install 

Running mvn eclipse:eclipse will get the pom.xml dependencies into the Eclipse project (see guide-ide-eclipse). It will blow away your existing .eclipse preferences. Not as cool as what this pom.xml does, but it works.
