- Some folks might be interested in following the openFDA is a project with the Food and Drug Administration—a project to build modern APIs for easier developer and researcher access to public FDA datasets around adverse events, structured product information, and recalls: http://open.fda.gov/
- EBSCO, one of the biggest providers of a boatload of content of many types to libraries, has just decided to make its metadata freely available to discovery services without requiring use of their API: http://www.thedigitalshift.com/2014/05/metadata/ebsco-opens-metadata-third-party-discovery-services/ This involves "all metadata for 129 of its full-text databases, more than 550,000 ebooks and more than 70 historical digital archives." They are doing this in alignment with NISO's "Open Discovery Initiative" (ODI): http://www.niso.org/workrooms/odi/
