The CVE affects
tomcat-tribes, and nottomcat-catalinanortomcat-embed-core.The code change to fix the CVE was made in
tomcat-tribes. The specific commit (for the Tomcat 9 fix) is apache/tomcat@776e12b (See Tomcat 9.0.117 release notes).The only functional change for the CVE fix was in
org/apache/catalina/tribes/**which is explicitly excluded from catalina (see build.xml files.catalina) and included in catalina-tribes (see build.xml files.catalina-tribes).Also,
org/apache/catalina/tribes/**is not included intomcat-embed-core(see build.xml files.tomcat-embed-core)
